Hongjie Yang’s design practice embodies the concept of metamorphosis. Yang searches for new aesthetics through in-depth research in the areas ranging from technology to culture. Specifically, he looks into how different scenarios influences on transforming our preconceived perceptions. Across all lines of inquiry, he attempts to rigorously interrogate and pull apart the building blocks of materiality. His recent works explore our ever-evolving relationship with nature, forming the creation of surreal objects that provokes, and overlaps between sculpture and design objects.
Yang studied in the USA and the Netherlands. He received his masters in Contextual Design from Design Academy Eindhoven. In recent years, he has exhibited work in the Netherlands and internationally. Currently, he operates a studio under his own name in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
